Every company needs a founding myth – here is ours

“We wanted to work together as soon as we met. That was back in 1994. We appreciate and leverage our relationship as a couple in order to push forward Lönneker & Imdahl rheingold salon in an unconventional, modern, fruitful way. Living together, having a family and working fulltime is not only possible, but a future model. It has worked for us.“

In 1986, Jens Lönneker wanted to prove that it’s possible to earn money by doing psychological market research. At the time, this was a bold endeavor. He conducted his first studies with Stephan Grünewald, who was Jens Lönneker’s first partner. They founded IFM Cologne. The company had just one telephone, which a friend who worked as a secretary for an attorney answered by giving the name of the two researchers. During this time, the first study material was returned to the sender with the note “undeliverable package.”

Their psychological market research quickly made headways. In 2000, the company was renamed. It was given the more meaningful name rheingold. Ines Imdahl joined the firm in 1989. She has been a co-owner and managing partner since 2000. Her collaboration with Jens Lönneker proved to be particularly fruitful, and the two went on to start not only a family, but also rheingold salon: a smaller and more flexible company that can quickly adapt to changing requirements and implement necessary innovations with little red tape. Today Lönneker & Imdahl rheingold salon is a modern company that can offer 25 years of knowhow without the costs arising from bureaucracy.

What we can do We help shape products, brands, and business concepts that are developing and at the same time in a state of flux.Because:

Everything is in a state of flux, on the one hand:

47% of the jobs in 702 professional groups are expected to disappear due to the digitization of the economy in the next few years…

Everything stays the same, on the other hand:

The five most important foods consumed at home in the USA have largely remained the same for 35 years: fruit, sandwiches, milk, vegetables, and coffee. With one exception: sandwiches have replaced toasts.

    The background:

Our psyche is constantly learning and reacting to changes. It constantly reconfigures itself. Forecasting and targeting models with fixed motive parameters do not address this fact. As a rule, Big Data approaches are too rigid. They do not enhance precision, but instead try to find the needle by making the haystack bigger.

rheingold salon – shaping change with flexible systems

In rapidly changing times, adaptable approaches and flexible systems are needed that can be used to shape changes. You can decide in which of the four fields you want to use our flexible methods:

Theory-based: We analyze based not on a gut feeling, but on the rules of morphological psychology, founded by Prof. Wilhelm Salber at the University of Cologne.

Implementation-oriented: We give concrete, detailed recommendations for brands, communications, and companies.

Owner-supervised: The managing partners/owners accompany every project.

    Jobs & Academy

    Academy

We train our junior staff ourselves.

Morphological market research is an exciting undertaking. Each thing in our daily lives has its own psychological secret. And it has to be explored. With a system and a method.

The rheingold akademie is the further-training facility for this kind of depth-psychological research. Under the aegis of the rheingold group, the academy offers practice-oriented training in the field of brand and media psychology.

The basis of the training carried out at the rheingold akademie is psychological morphology – a theory that was developed by Prof. Wilhelm Salber at the Psychological Institute of the University of Cologne.
